Hauraki Plains Community Hub AGM Summary
The Hauraki Plains Community Hub held its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 12th August 2025 at the Ngatea Rugby & Sports Club.
Thanks to everyone who joined us for this year’s Annual General Meeting.
It was a great to sit around the Rugby club tables to reflect on what we’ve achieved together and look ahead at the projects and connections we’ll be building for our community in the year to come.
Key Highlights
- Board Membership
- Current members Luke van Vliet, Julie Stephenson, and Luke O’Neil were re-appointed.
- A replacement is still needed for Marianne Loh’s position. Nominations remain open until 23rd September 2025, with the appointment to be made at the Board/Member Club meeting that follows.
- Chair’s Report
- Delivered by Alex Quinn.
- Emphasis on aligning with Hauraki District Council’s place-making outcomes and Sport Waikato initiatives.
- Commitment to broadening Hub connections beyond Hugh Hayward Domain, including non-sport and community groups.
- Financial Overview
- Income increased slightly (+7%) compared to last year.
- Expenses rose (due to investment in website development, admin support, and project delivery).
- Net result was lower than last year, but still positive, with overall reserves growing by 18%.
- Importantly, the surplus will not be held aside — the Hub has clear plans to direct it towards new projects and facilities for the community.
Looking Ahead
The Hub is committed to putting resources into projects that benefit our clubs, whānau, and wider community. Planned priorities for the year ahead include:
- Netball Court lighting upgrades
- Green space and field development at Hugh Hayward Domain
- Support for local events like the Junior Tristars Triathlon
- Improving connections between clubs, groups, and the wider community
