Join our Board: Help Shape the Future of the Hauraki Plains

At the heart of everything we do is one simple goal and that is to build a vibrant, connected community across the Hauraki Plains. We exist to support local clubs, groups, and whānau, helping them thrive, work together, and make the most of what our area has to offer.

Right now, we have TWO vacancies for an Elected Board Member, and we’d love to hear from someone in the community who wants to help contribute.

What does the Board do?

Our Board is made up of seven people, three Appointed Members and four Elected Members, who guide the direction of the Hub. That means making decisions on things like:

  • How we support and connect member clubs and groups across the Plains
  • Funding and resourcing for community projects, from facilities to events
  • Our relationship with Hauraki District Council, including shared spaces like the Hugh Hayward Domain
  • Bigger picture initiatives, like coordinating Civil Defence planning for our townships, or exploring a future combined sporting facility

t’s about representing your community and making sure local voices are part of decisions that affect us.

Why it matters

The Hub sits in an important position between our member clubs and groups, and the council. We work closely with HDC, advocate for the resources our community needs, and help make sure local clubs aren’t navigating things alone. Board members play a real part in that, bringing local knowledge, asking good questions, and helping steer where the Hub puts its energy.

No experience needed

You don’t need a governance background. What matters most is caring about the Hauraki Plains and wanting to see it do well.

Curious before you commit?

Come along to our next meeting, Tuesday 14th July at 6pm, meet the Board and then following at 7pm, our members will attend. Location in Ngatea to be confirmed. You’re welcome to sit in, ask questions, and meet the people already involved.

Board elections happen at our AGM, expected sometime in August this year. If you’re interested in standing, now’s a great time to put your name forward.
